crazy text sizes

I've been setting up some sections, and in order to get the text size to
display correctly in a 50' scale viewport, I have to set the text size
in the Section View Style to be as big as I want it to show in that
viewport.

Problem is, when I switch to model space, it looks like this:

Whereas the "good" viewport view looks like this:

The model space view is a little hard to work with when the text is so
big. Is there a way to make the text size consistent across views?

Thanks!

Settings tab. Edit drawings settings. Set scale to match vp scale.

Sorry Jason, I can't access your images (because of my end, not yours), but I'm guessing that changing your drawing scale to 1:50'
for when you're working on the sections may help. (Reference: Toolspace --> Settings --> right-click file name --> Drawing
Settings --> Top right corner of the Units and Zone tab.)

Hope that helps,

yep.... drawing scale is almost useless except two things (at least that I have encountered)

1) Making your text look normal to you in model space
2) vertical exaggeration on profiles

I'm not sure how you figure the second point Dana, but in my experience that first point alone makes the drawing scale variable
worth having.

Oh no- I didnt mean it was useless in the way of not needing it...

I just meant that scale has become almost irrelevant due to autoscaling text, viewports, drafting 1:1, etc.

I guess the thing I was trying to get across is- We no longer need to panic and freakout about drawing scale like we did in land desktop.

I remember having to change the drawing settings over and over again when I had a profile that was 1"=2' and another next to it that was 1"=5'. Now I just set the drawing scale to 50 and make two styles that take care of the exaggeration without having to change drawing scale.

And my magic "friend" draws proposed profile along with me in the second view. Love it!
