Corrupt Surface and C3D crashes

Working on a fairly complex C3D surface and experiencing frequent app crashes - every 10-15 mins

Decided to run a purge/audit, but it results in my surface loosing all it's history - feature lines, boundaries, breaklines, points etc

I end up with a static surface which is not acceptable

Here's the output from the audit command:

Pass 1 5700 objects audited
Tin Surface FG has become corrupted

Tin Surface FG rebuilt from surface points - may not match original
Pass 1 7100 objects audited
Auditing Entities Pass 2

So - can't fix the dwg, cause I loose all my surface Definition /in prospector/ and I cant work with this file because of the frequent crashes/freezes

/every time I try to undo, 3d orbit etc/

Any advice?

Do you know if the Template used to create this dwg was originally based on the OOTB 2014 or 2015 Acad.dwt ?

not sure - it was either a custom /project specific/ template or the standard C3D template that ships with C3D 2015

The reason I asked about the dwt used is there are some known issues when using the Acad.dwt as a starting point in the 2014 & 2015 releases.
