Corridor Properties - Branching Inward or Outward?

Could someone shine some light on the advantages or pros and cons of the Branchin settings within the Corridor properties / Feature Line tab... I have bugs with my corridor surfaces and I'm exploring options to straighten things out. What exactly does the Branching setting do to the corridor itself.

When should "Connect extra points" be used and when not to?

Hello,

See this link for info: http://academic.cengage.com/resource_uploads/downloads/1111137919_251010.pdf

Page #297 "...Merging Inward means the feature lines, if they are not present in the next section, should
merge to the next interior same description point. Outward is the opposite of inward:
If more points are present in the next section, they connect to the same name outside
points.."
