Coordinate units from imperial to metric

Hi:

I have received from the client a drawing with points within the file. The values of coordinates and elevations on the panorama tab -they are displayed after I select "All points" icon- are OK but the units are in imperial. How is possible to change the format to metric? I hope that I keep the value anyway.

For a better reference, please check the word document attached

Thanks

Rafael

I would suggest starting a new drawing using your company's DWT and then import your client's DWG and exploe it. This way you have all of your settings and styles as well as the new info.

Of course, do this if it makes sense to do so. We can suggest other settings for you if it doesn't.

Am I understanding correctly that you want to keep the coordinates in feet but display them in meters?

Hi Allen, thanks for your response. I want to keep the same values due they have been always referring to meters. The problem was is that they were created with the wrong settings-template and now the values are displayed as feet (') How is possible to change format in the point list in the prospector tab to meters?

Rafael,

Those foot symbols are read from the"Drawing Settings".

Settings Tab of Toolspace > Right click on dwg name > Edit Drawing Settings > Ambient Settings >

"Coordinate" (change to Meters)

"Elevation" (change to Meters)

Please be aware this simply displays the values in Meters and doesn't do any Imperial to Metric conversion to the drawing such as scaling etc.

There may be other conversion issues needing attention.

Hi Jay, Thanks for the response. The way the values display in the point list was my main concern. However it did the conversion from feet to meters.

Thanks

Rafael,

Glad things are working for you. The one thing I'll mention is that if this is a metric based job and was created in an imperial based template. You may run in to problems with any labels you might use. It literally can take thousands of changes to change every style from feet to meters.

It this is the case. I'd suggest doing a copy/paste in to the correct metric template.
