Contour Labels

Ok, I've got two questions for the gurus on-board.

1) How can I set my contour labels for 3 units high instead of 0.10"? I have an overall site plan at 1"=60' that I'd like to have the labels show as 0.005" and two blown up areas at 1"=30 that I'd like the same labels to show at 0.10"... hence, I'd like the text size itself to stay at 3 units.

2) Why isn't my background mask working? I've got my merge control set to have my lines merge (I've got shaded streets), and my mask isn't working for the contours. My textmask/wipeout objects work fine.

1.) Create a different Contour label style for your 1"=30' viewport and change the layer. On the 1"=60' change the contour label style to what you want. (.005" or whatever) Do the same to the 1"=30'. (0.1" or whatever) Viewport freeze the ones you don't want to show up.

Yes, this is double work, as you label the contours multiple times.

OR..(provided the blown up areas are not on your overall sheet)... change the settings for the 1"=60' print, print out that sheet, then change the settings to the contour label style to 0.10" for your 1"=30' and print that out.

2.) Check your plotter drivers. That is usually the cause of the background mask not working properly. We had that same problem with our OCE TDS400. I've read several other plotter driver problems on these boards as well. Once we called the OCE people to give us new drivers... the masking is working nicely!!!

Hope this helps!

this isn't very elegant, but it works.

here are some captures that might help

Both of you had excellent ideas, I'll give them a shot.

I'll double check on the drivers (we have a KIP 3000).

Thanks a lot!

The idea of changing the text size to 0.05" for 1"=60' amd changing it back to 0.10" for 1"=30' worked like a charm! I was pressed for time so the other ideas needed to take a back seat.

I like this solution... any ideas how I can automate this in, say, a lisp file or a command line batch file?
