Connect to Raster Data

Trying to connect to raster data through FDO Provider , 3D Map for Geospatial, raster formats are Drg, MrSid, Tiff and ECW, all formats load up but do not display, using Autocad Civil 3D 2008. Any info. wil be appreciated.

You are clicking the "add to map" button in the data connect dialog
correct?
You are placing a check mark in the box next to the file names, and doing a
zoom extends for each one right?
Do any of them show in Maps Task pane under the display manager?
Are the coordinates system for the raster the same as your dwg objects?
A few screen captures of what you are doing and what you end up with might
help.

You have to click "Add to Map" or something like that. I'm not infront of
Map at the moment.

Sounds like a repair is in need.
Have you edited or added any FDO providers?

Thought I would bring this thread back to life.
I'm not sure if the issue has been resolved - but I am having this problem in C3D 2008 & 2009, and Map 3D 2008 (have not tried Map 3D 2009 but I assume the problem exists there also) - whatever uses the FDO provider.

It appears to be a windows permissions issue.
I can log into windows with elevated permissions and I can use the Autodesk FDO provider for Raster and the images come in fine.

If I log in under a power user then the image does not display. It shows in the Display Manager, but not the drawing. In '09 at least there is an error message indicating there was a problem.

It only happens with the AutoDESK FDO Provide for Raster. SHP, ODBC's, etc work fine.
Is anyone aware some settings that need to be modified to get this to work.

TIA

I'm having the same EXACT problem on 2010 & 2011.

About 2 months ago I did not have this problem.  Maybe IT changed my permissions?

Try this -

In your options make a note of your Temporary External Reference File Location" under the Files tab and get Full Control permissions to this folder.

There are some files that get created and attributes set when attaching raster images.

This issue is caused by lack of permissions. If you go into

Options menu>Files tab and locate “Temporary External Reference File Location”.

This revealed the path where program copies it. Users must be given full rights to this location

(C:\Users\<username>\appdata\local\temp\).

As an alternative some people recommend creating another temp location such as C:\TEMP and setting “Temporary External Reference File Location” to there while ensuring user has full permissions. More about permissions could be found here.

This problem was just solved for me this morning in 2012. Make sure that you have permission to access the folder where your temporary files are stored. For example, I had mine set to a network drive and did not have full control over that drive & folder. I made a folder on the C: drive called _{my initials}_Temp and used the Options settings to direct files there.

Immediately my FDO worked correctly for both rasters and shapefiles.

My deepest thanks to Tatiana Machado of the Autodesk Subscription Help Team for solving this.

Please see if this helps.
