Compute Mixed Materials

Hi everyone,

      - What i want to do is to compute the material (excavation) from 3 intersecting surfaces using the "add a subcriteria" method. The area i want to compute is seen on the attched picture.

      - Also i want to learn if its possible to add extra grip points to a static section line on the section view.?

Any help would be appreciated..

OK, so apparently, you are not paying for material over-excavated and not paying for material that was not excavated to the proposed typical section.  Hopefully someone can relay a simple answer but I do not know one.

I would plot all the sections out (in the dwg) and draw a polyline around each area and calculate it somewhat manually.

Bill

Right, use a Subcriteria.

Are you saying Civil 3D is not calculating the Cut below EG and above  the Survey and Design surfaces correctly?

Iam not saying that.I am just asking is there a way to calculate the area
shown on the attached picture using subcriteria. Thanks

Yes, use the Subcriteria as I mentioned.

I have already tried many possibilities as subcriteria but didnt
success.thats why I am expecting some more detailed help.can you please
show the order and the number of subcriterias under compute material
window...

You don't want to have the Project Surface in the subcriteria to isolate that hatched area you want for volumes.

No.I use project surface when the site survey line is lower than project surface. In this condition the project line is used for calculation.

Use two Cut materials. You don't need to implement Subcriteria.

Hi Umit:

I am doing a Volume calculations with Civil 3D with the same criteria that you have in this posting. However, doing the method of the last person in your section is not working for me. I am having a similar situation: The client is paying for the excavation above the design nothing below the design. How to do this volume? If you solved, please give me a shout.

Regards

Ralph
