Compatible plotter driver - Civil3D 2006 with HP DesignJet 2500CP and Win XP

As stated above, we are having trouble finding a driver for this combination. The ACAD Plotter Manager lists the 2500CP but says only  to 'load the latest HP Windows Plotter driver'. Somewhat vague instructions, at best. At HP we find no new drivers for this plotter and at Autodesk no real help at all. Surely, someone out here in CAD world has used this combo (or something akin to it) at some time and might be able to point us to it. One other question - is there an actual help line at Autodesk where one might talk to a human that could set us straight?

Please excuse our ignorance on this subject.

Do you have a Windows driver for this printer?

In other words, can you print to it from Paint, or Excel, or other Windows apps?

Use the HP-GL2 driver.

Autodesk doesn't provide support for printing and plotting hardware, especially a machine that is something like 10 years old.  For HP drivers try this link.

Install the HP-GL2 driver from the HP web site.

Configure a printer port in windows.

Use the autoCAD Configure a Plotter: use the wizard. (Options > Plot and Publish> Configure Plotter > Wizard)

Make sure that the settings on the Plotter configuration panel, the windows printer configuration tabs, and the AutoCAD

configuration settings all match  ie: paper size, type, and direction. Check Spool settings. If things are in conflict you get strange results or system lock up.
