Comma/Space Delimeted w/ Imported Survey Data from Point File?

Hi All,

I was wondering if there is a preference, or need, of importing Raw Survey Data with Descriptions as either Space or Comma Delimeted into Civil 3D 2013? All of my Figure Prefixes and Linework Codes are configured and will completely import as Comma Delimeted PNEZD, but will not when imported as Space Delimeted PNEZD. Specifically with Space Delimeted PNEZD, my Figures will neither close with the CLS Special Code nor Offset with the V & H codes. For example, the following PNEZD Comma Delimeted will Close the BLDG Figure:

11,4020.0000,4020.0000,110.5200,BLDG B
12,4020.0000,4080.0000,110.5200,BLDG
13,4060.0000,4080.0000,110.5200,BLDG
14,4060.0000,4020.0000,110.5200,BLDG CLS

The following Space Delimeted PNEZD file will not close between Pts 11 and 14:

11 4020.0000 4020.0000 110.5200 BLDG B
12 4020.0000 4080.0000 110.5200 BLDG
13 4060.0000 4080.0000 110.5200 BLDG
14 4060.0000 4020.0000 110.5200 BLDG CLS

I'd really prefer to use Space Delimeted - is there something that I'm missing?

Thank You in Avance,

Doug Bennet

I don't speak as an authority on this but I suspect the problem is you need to set up some other delimiter than a space in the descriptor field. Otherwise how does C3D know BLDG B is a descriptor and not 2 separate fields?

Your descriptions nees to be surrounded by quotes. "BLDG B". Your data collector may or may not do this.
