I have been forced to enter the realm of GIS and it's not pretty.
This may be more a GIS question, but their forums seem to be focused on coding.
I know how to export a closed polyline out of C3D as a .shp then bring it into GIS as a new layer. But what is the procedure for moving this single polygon layer into an existing polygon layer as a feature (one of many existing polygons in existing layer)?
Thanks

You can simply _MAPIMPORT the two shapes in an empty .DWG then _MAPEXPORT all to a unique polygon shapefile.
Thanks for the replies. I did go with the merge tool (Under Geoprocessing pull-down menu) in ArcCatalog. I had to redo it when I realized that I wanted the "new" features to be placed at the bottom of the attribute table, not at the top as I had done originally. Redoing it with the input data stacked to reflect the order in the destination dataset was an easy fix.
You both provided valuable information for me, so you both get a green check!
Thanks again
