I am using a Dell Precision 390 with dual Intel Core 2 CPU 6700 @ 2.66 Ghz with 3.50 GB of RAM, running Windows XP 2002 with Service Pack 3.
I have had numerous problems with grading base files crashing. For example, I am unable to use grading objects to daylight to a surface with about 40,000 points (.dwg is about 25 mb), without receiving a fatal error.
Given my hardware requirements, could these problems be stemming from my machine? I have purged, audited, and WBLOCK'ed to a new template, but these problems seem to always re-appear.
There have been seveal discussions about memory problems with C3D on Windows XP. So far the only solution is to install a 64 bit operating system and upgrade to the 64bit version of Civil 3D (which is only available for the 2011 version).
