This
is not really an option, for all of the text in the Civil 3D
objects.
Everyone thank you for your suggestions but we have still not nailed it.
The drawing scale in Edit Drawing Settings only works in Model Space, it has no effect in a viewport.
This is the situation:
The plan and profile drawing is finished and ready to plot (plot scale 1:1000, viewports set at 1:250.) We then want plot the drawing to show additional length in the plan and profile (still plot at 1:1 but change viewport to 1:500) leaving the labels at the original size. Civil 3D regens the viewport and the drawing looks a mess with text on top of text. We do not want to clean the drawing up for a temporary plot. I know the text will be small but this is accepted.
The only work around we have found is to scale the drawing surround, adjust the size (not scale of the veiwport) and plot at 1:2000.
