Civil 3D General Capability

All,

I am new to AutoCad and Civil 3D. I have used plain autocad in the past.

I have been exploring the capability of Civil 3D for a new project I have. I am not in the Civil field, but I need to be able to modify existing ground geometry. Basically create a path/road through exisiting surface. Simply stated, all that I need is the new file with the existing modified surface. I dont need detailed drawings/figures, just a plain old DXF file with the modified geometry.

I have been working my way through the tutorials. Points, Surfaces, Alignments, Corridors, Profiles, etc. Essentially, these are the the things I am looking to do. However, I am still not sure if I can do what I need to do.

Will civil 3D be able to produce just the modified DXF geometry? I hope this questions is not too ridiculous/confusing...just trying to make sure I am not wasting my time if it cant do what I need it to do.

Thanks for the help.

Perhaps if you gave some insight as to what you are trying to accomplish (after the designing the path part) with the .dxf, perhaps we would be able to give you an alternative.
