civil 3d freezing during pipe network data ref.

just wondering if anybody else is having the same problem i am having. first of all i started a "data" drawing for my pipe networks. the alignments that are data ref'd work fine so do the surfaces. however when it comes time to create a data link to the pipe network civil 3d freezes up. the actual drawing that i have done the pipe network in is fine, i have no issues opening it. i have tried removing the data shortcuts and recreating them but it is the same thing over and over again. even tried starting a new drawing from scratch and going one by one through my data links. again the surface and alignments all come in fine. but that pipe network is just killing the drawing.

I believe that no one can answer your question until you give:

1.  Version of Civil 3D you have.

2.  Your computer's specifications: Including OS using, Processor and speed, amount of memory, etc.
