Civil 3D Conferences

HI,

I went to last years AUTODESK UNIVERSITY (2013) but my employer told me that I will only be able to go every other year to AU. I am just curious if there are other conferences out there that aren't as expensive but worth going to? I was told to look around and see what I could find.

Thanks for your help!

Not that I know of. Resellers are always offering training but 3 days of meaningful training will cost just about as much a AU minus travel and lodging. Maybe others know of something.

I'd curl up with a good book. There's lots of very good ones out there:

...and also look at the AU course materials - there is a lot of very good practical real world stuff in there that I have found extremely useful

We've never had the money to send me to AU, so I've been out of luck going to any conferences. I've been trying for 14 years now to give you an idea of how long. I've not found a single East Coast conference related to Civil 3D or even Autodesk. Seems like Autodesk should make one for the East Coast considering how many people live on this side of the country and use their software.

Where are you located? In Florida we have 2 conferences a year called FLUG (Florida Local Users Group). There are Civil3D presentations & hands on labs at every conference (most are geared towards how FDOT works with Civil3D but some are general). Price is very reasonable, you can find information at www.flugsite.com

I'm in east Tennessee. Since most of that conference relates to FDOT, it wouldn't help me much, but thanks for the link.

Thanks everybody for your input.

I am in Utah. I know of one that is a free one day event here and put on buy our reseller. It would be nice to have something else to be able to go to that's not as expensive as AU!

Thanks Again!

Our reseller in the North East used to do the free 4 or 6 hour classes. Not so much now that the economy had tanked the last half-dozen years. I think you'd need someone local to put on smaller events. Autodesk does the North America AU had 2 or 3 others world wide a year. That's probably all they can handle. Remember with large corporations it can take a long time to get things put together and approved.
