Hi,
I have a situation where some profileviews does not show the gridlines and border, then, after a regen they appear, but a couple of seconds later Civil 3D crash.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Eric

Quadro FX 580
C3D 2013 SP1.
Windows 7, 64
I did Purge, Recover, Audit with no success.
I also checked broken datashortcuts.
Error message:
FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0xffffffff Exception at e1968c0eh
Attached is the file.
Thanks,

I'm able to open it just fine with 2013 no Service Packs installed.
It's not finding 4 data referenced surfaces, take a look at if one of those could be causing issues.
Attached is a caption of the profiles - The data bands & grids all look ok.
I also checked it with 2013 with SP1 and no problems here. Same issue on missing DS's.
I also tried regen, regenall, zoom extents, and even went into each profile view properties to see if that would kick me out. All was good.
Thanks Jay,
I updated the datashortcuts but the problem persists.
I did regen and the grids appears, but just when I move the mouse, the program crash.
Thanks again,
Eric
Eric,
Try running an audit on all individual drawings in play here.
The drawing you posted and ALL xrefs and Civil 3D source drawings drefs were created from.
Have this same exact issue.

Have done the purge, audit, & recovery. Also started a new drawing from scratch. Same issue. Exactly configured machine that we just got with a fresh install and patched to SP2 has no issues. Had been working fine on my system for a while. This is a pretty recent development. So far the only thing I can think of that has changed was installing the 2014 Design Suite.
Actually have the same issue in C3D 2014. Up to date and using out of the box settings.
Glenn,
Might not hurt to post to Re: Are you experiencing recurring crashes? If so, we'd like to hear from you thread re: 2013 installs w/ crashing issues.
Apparrently my issue was caused by installing the 2014 Infrastructure Design Suite. Part of the installation installs the Autodesk Geotechnical Module. Which had some nasty bugs in it. I tested created a profile view in 2014 and had the same results. After sending in the crash report that was generated, I got an email from Autodesk stating this was what was causing the issue. This apparrently causes issues in other versions of C3D.
The module can be uninstalled on its own. By using the Windows Contol Panel. There is a newer version in the subcription center if you need the functions from this module.
