Let me count the ways... Smiley Happy

Prospector, select the points branch, in the item view, click the point number, edit

Prospector, select the points branch, in the item view, select multiple points, right-click, Renumber

Prospector, select the points branch, right-click, edit points, in the Panorama same as the first two edits methods.

Select the point(s) in the drawing, on the contextual ribbon tab for points, Modify panel, renumber.

Select the point(s) in the drawing, right-click, Renumber

Switch the Ribbon to the Modify tab, select Points on the Ground data panel, on the modify panel, Renumber

On the command line, type in SELECTANDEDITPOINTNUMBERS

There you have it, take your pick of the best method for you. Of course, if these are Survey Points, then only some of those will work.

Yee,There are lot ways.

Actually I want to do this type of thing.

I have these point numbers.

1.JPG

Then I add some points.

2.JPG

Then I want to renumber all points 1-9 since there is nine points.

1-1

11-2

2-3

3-4

4-5

5-6

12-7

13-8

6-9

Is there any method?

You have an additional choice if you don't like what Jeff said.

ERASE All, re-set the counter

Set new points.

BTW, you should just do one of the methods Jeff said.

You cannot change 11 to 2 because there is already a number 2.

You have to work from the top down:

6-9

13-8

12-7

5-6

4-5

3-4

2-3

11-2

There.  That's your method.

(Specifically, use one of the above methods for each point.)

Hi,

You are correct. But thing is above answer works for given example only.Think if i have

7 for 11

8 for 12

and

9 for 13. Then how change point 6 to 9.Because 9 is already there.I don't want any old point number.I want to completly change the point number order .

Any idea,

In cases like that you have to change to something else in between.  You can't have two points with the same point number, even for a second!

Change 9-109

then change 6-9

then change 109-13

use any number you want, just something that isn't in use.  Then when the number is clear, you can change it again to the one you want it to be.

Most often it is easiest to work from the highest number down, but you still may need to use these temporary numbers sometimes.

Renumber them to the new number plus 10000. Once done, renumber all of them at once with an additive value of -10000.

Or use the additive value first; add 10000 to everything, then change them to what you want afterwards.

Wow, this is fun!  Ever tried to get a chicken, a fox and a bag of grain across a river when you only have room for two of them in your boat? Smiley Wink

Hallo Jeff_M

Your method works well.But

"Renumber them to the new number plus 10000"

To do this is there any automatic method?

Because new numbers are in order, likes 1,2,3,4

The automatic methods are in Jeff's first post, the very first reply to your original question.

If you import your points from Excel, you can rename the point numbers there then re-import them...
