centerline labels

In LDD we are able to globally add labels to (in this case) centerlines by just right clicking and use static or dynamic labels. I would use this feature to put lengths, bearings, curve lengths and radii on all of my centerlines. It doesn't appear that C3D does the same thing. Does anybody have suggestions on how I should do this same thing inside C3D? I know I can do this in LDD, but I would like to be able to flip labels and modify labels like I do with everything else in C3D. Suggestions anyone?

thanks,
rick

Start by doing a couple of the tutorials on alignments and labeling. You're
not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy.

I've gone through those quite awhile ago, but I'll do it again and maybe it will answer the question I'm about to ask. What if I don't want these centerlines to be alignments? What if I want to simply label some lines?

The alignment labelling you describe can be done fairly easily and it works very much like parcel segment labels. Alignments --> Add Labels --> Select Single or Multiple Segment as the label type, and then choose the label styles to be used for lines, curves and spirals.

Eek. Can't be done without making them SOMETHING, at least if you want to
use the C3D labels and smart scaling, etc. You can make them parcel lines
and label, but if you're going to do that, you might as well make CL
alignments.

This looks to be my only choice. I just didn't want to make a bunch of alignments that aren't needed. You see, I have a bunch of parking lot lane centerlines, that I want to label for a site geometry plan. No stationing, profiles, etc. will ever be used on these lines. Creating alignments out of these centerlines seems really not necessary. Plus if I do it then I will have a bunch of alignments in my prospector that I will always have to look at along with my needed alignments (you ever have a drawing that has hundreds of layers, but you're only interested in five?). But I want to follow the right procedure, and if this is it then I guess I will click my red shoes together and get busy.

Thanks Guys,
rick

I would highly recommend you place these "rogue" alignments in their own
Site. I might add that you have given me some ideas. I will use Site names
preceded with an X to keep it on the bottom of the list.

My $0.03 worth.

Ah, I assumed they were already alignments.

My opinion, make them alignments, put them in their own site, and label their segments using the alignment labelling functions. That will keep them separate from your other site alignments.

Excellent suggestions.
