Can't snap to point symbols

For some reason we cannot snap to the node on several of our point symbols.  I cannot see anything different when compared to the other point symbols that we can snap too.  Basically if i try to draw a line of obtain a distance using the NOD osnap on these point symbols i get nothing, its like they dont have a NOD to snap too.

Any ideas? This is quite annoying.

Open up your Transparent Command toolbar, there is an icon for point number.  Not sure if your familiar with transparent commands but they are to used with in a command say for drawings a polyline.  So if type PL to start polyline then type 'PN to activate the Point number transparent command.  Then you just type the point number or range if sequential you can also use commas for different point number sequence.

Example.

PL, 'PN, 1-4,6,9,10.  This one command will draw a polyline to each of those points.

Can also be used with 3DPL, lines, etc.

Yes I'm aware of transparent commends and use them regulary and use the one you referred to in your post.  However, that was not the point of my question.  It's much easier to just keep the OSNAPS on that we need when running inquiries and things of that nature.  With that said, it's not working properly and not snapping to some of our blocks and we would like to know why.

Here's to wishing for a 'PO osnap that snaps to your point no matter where you click on the point or point label.

Hi,

Any help out there with this?  I just came across the same thing in a drawing - C3D 2012.  I've got quite a few wetland flags to connect.  If I switch to other point styles they all work fine for OSNAP NOD, just the wetland point style seems "broken".

Thanks

I've experienced this too, no idea why.

If you have all your points in a group you could use that to temporarily override their style, so you can snap to them

Thanks Troma,

I used the point object transparent command, but was just hoping that there was a solution/reason for the glitch.

Is it a stock symbol or one you created yourself.

For us it was a symbol using a block.

The block was a donut, with inside diameter zero, and ouside diameter of 0.01

Now I think of it, I should have been able to snap to 'Center'.  Don't know if I tried that.  It was a while ago.  I just know that I couldn't snap to 'Node'.

There's no way I know of to include and Autocad point or custom marker style with a block within the style. I'd thing that if you use an AtuoCAD Block to the point marker. You'd have to include an AutoCAD Point in the block. You'd either need a point style that wont show it when plotted or make it a non-plotting color.

Now, I thought all cogo points had a 'Node' snap simply by virtue of being cogo points. (And that these ones had something strange going on.) But you're saying that it depends entirely on the point style being used.

There you go, challenging my worldview and broadening my horizons again, Allen!
