Can i copy a style from drawing to drawing in the Toolspace

Hi All

If i create a style in one drawing, is there any method of copying it
from 1 drawing to another in the toolspace, eg if i create a description
key set in a drawing.

You can copy in the toolspace, but it only copies to the same drawing.

Regards
Garry

If you have both drawings open, you can drag the style from one drawing to another.

Hi Rick

1. Yes i have 2 drawings open
2. I have created a description key set in 1 drawing.
3. I am trying to drag + drop the description key set from one drawing to
another, in the master view of the Toolspace
this does have the drag+drop symbol displayed, but when i drop it does
nothing.
4. I have also tried the drag the description key set from the toolspace of
one drawing into the other drawings model space, this
also does nothing for me.

So it doesn't appear to work for me.

Gary,

Ahhhhh, didn't see the DESCRIPTION KEY reference in the OP. Sorry, but I don't think it is possible to drag and drop since the DK is not really a style.

Do a search on the DG for 'Super secret Style getter'. This may help you get the DK over.

Gary,
Don't try and drag and drop on the toolspace. Drag it from the tool space to the drawing you want it to go to and just drop it in the drawing window. I have tested it and it works for me.

You can drag and drop an entire Desc Key Set from one drawing to another. It's just the individual Desc Keys that can't be moved.

We actually take advantage of this, and use two Desc Key Sets. One contains all of our generic Desc Keys that we typically use. The other contains any Desc Keys that we create specifically for a given project.

This way, if we edit our Desc Key list, we can update it simply by copying the new set into the drawing, and we can update our default Desc Keys without affecting any project-specific Desc Keys.

How does this "drag & drop" work"?  Trying to bring new description keys set from template to a working dwg.

Thxs.

Have both drawings open at the same time. Then set your working drawing current. Go to your Settings tab, and just grab Desc Key from template and drop it in the drawing.
