Your alignment may have geometry that precludes the offset. i.e. too tight a radius or kink?
Thank you

was your alignment created from objects or drawn with the layout tool bar?
I suspect objects.
Thank you

I loaded my survey points, Created a surface, Created a feature line with elevations, Loaded quick profile then exported to Land xml file, Inserted the land XML file which dropped the alignment along the line, then set my start point from the alignment. All I had to work with was a .shp file from a survey company. This is for a pipeline bid project so information is very limited

I used the "3dpoly, 'pn, 1-4333" command as there are 4333 points in my survey file

I guess what I need is the `Z`` Coordinate 7 meters to the left and 7 meters to the right of these survey points.  My employer would me like to manually calculate the slope.  Of the side hill sections.

Well, you have confused the heck out of me. You have no surface only points along alignment, you have a surface? Which is it?
Thank you

That does not clarify anything. I appologize but is english not you first language? I have lost track of what you are trying to do?

Thank you

I appologize,

I will outline the steps I have taken please correct me if I am wrong ( I am new to Civil 3D and have been tossed into this):

1. Import the survey points from .xyz file

2. Create surface from the points file

3. Create feature line along points and a quick profile from this line

4. Export the land xml file containing the quick profile then Import the land xml file back into my drawing which automatically creates the alignment along my survey points.

What I am looking to do is find the side slope along these survey points to calculate the volume of material we will be required to remove in order to build the Right of way for this project,  The project spans over multiple mountains with severe vertical and side slopes which we are required to cross.

I really appologize I am not meaning to frustrate or confuse anyone. Question.png
