Calculate the volume of excavations from contour lines

Hi and good day all, I'm really new with this tool and I need with emergency to this work.

I got a dwg of a topo drawing with contour lines and I need to calculate the volume of the excavation till some especific level. This is my draw:

Then, I made a surface with this contour lines that seems really well:

Ayuda 2.jpg

After this, I draw with plines the base level where I want to excavate:

ayuda 3.jpg

And now, I dont know how to continue to make a surface volume of the first figure with this base level and then calculate the volume.

Please, I really appreciate if any of you can help me!

Thanks!

First of all you need two TIN surfaces to calculate a volume.  You already have one, and you can use the polylines you've created to build the second one.  Once that is done find the Volumes Dashboard on the Analyze tab of the ribbon and use it to calculate your volume.

Note - this calculation will create a polygon with vertical sides.  If your excavation is supposed to have sloped sides then you will have to create a grading object to get a true volume.

This might help you:

The example extracts the boundary from the Excavation surface to use as a breakline on the OG surface, but you could make a polyline of the correct elevation if excavation's daylight is not correct for OG.

The video explain very well the follow steps. My big mistake was that my base level was wider than my other surface and for that reason I cant did a well done volume surface.

Thanks

I know this is very basic.

But can someone help me in converting the contour lines into Pline format.

I have gone through this site

http://esurveying.net/land-survey/contour-map-software this gives more information about contour.
