C3D Profile Problems

Hey all!

Alright I have an existing grade surface tin created from contours.

I also have 2 sight distance alignments created.

When creating the profile view using both the alignment and surface (i need existing grade profile) the profile view is created but there is NO PROFILE of the existing grade...

I know that I have done everything correctly because the grid in the profile view is clipped to where the existing grade profile would be (i even checked it against the surface contours and the clipping matches exactly....

Also I have ALL layers turned on....This profile view was created using the create profile from surface....Also no matter what layers I change the profile to in the styles menu still has no effect....

Lastly I tried to create a profile by layout in the same profile view and to no avail it acts like it is being created but does not appear in the profile view...

Please let me know if you have any ideas...im just scratching my head now.... 😞

Thanks
Kyle

Kyle,

It's very helpful to know which version of Civil 3D you are using,
including the service pack & hotfix information.

First, check the properties of the existing profile. Does it show valid
station & elevation limits information?

Next, create a new profile view and see if the profiles show up in that.

Himanshu,

Thanks you for your reply..

I am running C3D 2007 with no hotfixes or patches.

I have tried making a new profile and to no avail it will still not appear...

All of the stations for the alignment show up properly and transfer correctly to the profile view...however the profile line will not show up....

Im really at a loss here 😞

Thanks for you response!!

Try to create a new profile *view* and see if the profile appears in
that view.

OK that's good. Is this a new drawing in C3D 2007 or an existing 2006
drawing? Can you post it (ZIP'ped) in the customer-files news
group/forum? Thanks.

Himanshu,

Thanks again for the reply!

This is a brand new C3D drawing.

Unfortunately I am at my "other" job right now and will try some more things when I get home. I will see if I can zip it and post it.

I will start a new drawing when I get home, make a new surface, new alignment and see if I can get it to work...if I can get it to work I will try importing the old surface and make a new alignment...if that does not work I will zip it and post it!

Thanks again
Kyle

You're welcome. Not to beat a dead horse here, but I would like to
understand the cause of the problem. Is it possible for you to ZIP &
email me the template that you were using, and the steps I could perform
to duplicate the problem? The address is first.last at Autodesk.com.
Thanks.
