C3D crashes @98% for User A, but not User B

The title basically says it all.  User A cannot open a drawing file in C3D (loads the file to 98%, then stops and have to End Task it), but User B can, on the same computer.  Does anyone have an idea what might be going on?

Any idea/help would be much appreciated!

Tells me it's something to do with the Windows/AutoCAD profile.

Have you tried logging in as the user for which it crashes, and then using a different "AutoCAD" profile (the ones inside of "Options")? If it still fails, the next step may be to delete the AutoCAD portion of the Windows profile. I think there is a KB article on this, but I don't have it handy.

Before destroying anything, hang around for a bit and see if there are other suggestions...

Maybe one of these might help. Program appears to freeze or hang during startup

We had some success in enabling the 3GB switch on our XP machines after similar issues. I am not sure what you are running, but it might be worth checking.

I tend to agree with R.K. here - if one user can log in and open the drawing while the other user can log in and crash, then everything points to problems with the user's Windows profile.

Are there any differences in the systems that the two users are on?  In terms of 32- or 64-bit OS, amount of memory, etc.?  That could make a difference.  Do both of them have the same version and service pack + hotfix configuration for Civil 3D?  In general it's very useful to post which version of Civil 3D+SP+hotfix you are using.

Original post says that both users are using the same computer. That's why most think it's profile based. I agree about posting the versioin and update level.

Oops. Completely missed that they were on the same computer.  Ignore my question about system config.

Sorry about the late update:  In the end, the user went back to his own office to work on the project.

I was able to open the file on my computer as my user login.

The system configuration of both (mine and the one with the issue) computers:

HP DC5800, Windows XP Pro SP3, Intel Core 2 Duo (E8400) 3HGz, 4GB RAM, ATI FireGL V3600.

Both have the latest drivers.  The exception is that mine has the 3GB switch done to it, and the other one does not.  This shouldn't matter since one user was able to the file w/o a problem, and not the other.

Also, the version of Civil 3D was 2009, with the SP3 update.
