C3D and LDD 2005 NOT coexisting peacefully

We've been running LDD 2005 for a few months with no problems. Today, I
installed Civil 3D on my machine for testing before rollout. What I've
experienced was nothing short of painful, and though working somewhat
better, still not perfect.

I installed C3D and then ran service pack 1 and the hotfix. After that, I
tried to open a drawing in LDD - drawing wouldn't open. LDD would go
through the motions, then just shut down without warning. Not cool. I
ran a repair of the LDD 2005 installation and then the LDD 2005 registry.
It allowed me to open the drawings, but I still get errors. One error is a
exception that seems to reference Raster Design. The other comes in the
command line and is pasted below. Does anyone know what the problem is
here, or am I totally lost?

I'm running these on a Windows 2000 machine with a Pentium IV 2.8 gHz with 1
GB RAM and an ATI FireGL V3100 video card.

Here's the command history with the error:

I think I may have this figured out a little better. I uninstalled Raster
Design and started Land Desktop - no errors. This is good. No errors in
Civil 3D either. This is still good.

So I reinstalled Raster Design - boom, Land Desktop won't open a drawing.
I don't know what the problem is, and don't have time to troubleshoot it
today. I uninstalled Raster Design again, and everything runs fine.

Problem is, I need Raster Design - is it possible for these three programs
to exist together, or is it hopeless?

Thanks,

Jason:

I have had those three, including Survey & Civil Design running since Day 1
with no un-ordinary problems. I am about to bite the bullet and add
all the 2006 products right in the same mix. I can't stand not jumping
right in. Now, these are all stand-alone products.

However, in a thread that was started today in the LDD newsgroup, I may have
had a problem and not aware of it. See
"Cannot plot an aerial in LDD 2005".

Are you (or have you) used Large SID files (ECW and some others also cause
problems). This can dramatically break RD 2005. RD Hot Fix 3 is supposed to
be posted soon to fix these problems.
