C3D 2014:Point Input Format PNEZD-Raw & Total Descriptions?

Hi all,

I have seen the Raw Description and the Total Description in the lower portion of Toolspace for the points imported from the PNEZD txt file.

In the AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014: What is the Raw Description of points? What is the Total Description?  What is the difference between the Raw Description and the Total Description? How can we use these 2 Descriptions properly?

Please kindly help, answer the questions I presented above, and respond.

Thanks in advance,

Scott Chang

The raw description is the description in the ASCII file (or other type source file)

The full description is either the same as the raw description, or some transformation of it based on rules in a description key table.

Example:

TRE 18 is the raw desc

$1" TREE is the code in the Desc Key table

The full (expanded) description would be 18" TREE

(the $1 = the first parameter after the raw code, the inch character is next, then the full word "tree")
