C3d 2013 - Can't merge or delete a layer

There's a layer in the drawing we received from the surveyor that doesn't match the client's standards.  When I try to merge it with another layer or delete the layer, the command stops as soon as I pick a line on the layer.  There are no objects visible on the layer so it may part of a style.  I don't think it's part of a block as the surveyor used the client's blocks.  Any ideas how to get rid of it?  Thanks in advance.

you could write block out the drawing data thereby avoiding the problematic layer.

Ah, didn't think of that.  I'll give it a try.  Hopefully it won't come along with a style.

If it is just one layer, I might just rename it to something in the standard.

Thanks,

Have you try the command "laydel"?

I tried laydel but the command just stops.  Same with merge.  I drew a line on the layer & as soon as I pick it, the command stops.

I ended up taking dmartins advice & renamed the layer.

Thanks.
