C3D 2011 "Paper" background

How can I change the colour of the "paper" background (in layout)?

type options, then go to the second tab (it's labeled 'Display')
about half way down on the left side you'll see a button that says 'Colors'
on the left you'll see a selection called 'Sheet / layout' then on the right side just change the color to what ever you want it to be.

Is it possible to change the layout background? I hate 2011's new
whitish color.

Hi Srayos,

Read and try Brian's post. Note that you can open the Options form in
several ways. I use op which is very quick to type.

Paper background options have not changed as far as Civil 3D been around (2005 or so).

I know perfectly well how to access options. It's just that I can't find option for changing this new whitish paper background color in layout.

Switch to layout.

Envoke Options, select display tab, colours then change the sheet/layout colour uniform background colour to desired.

I must be a bit of simple minded but.. Uniform background color changes the color of the paper? I want to change the surrounding background color.

Just place a "big fat" polyline around it. Select your favorite color.

Like what the original poster asked, I want to change the layout
background, not the paper background color. The old neutral gray color
was perfect against the white paper and shadow, but now it's more
difficult to see with the whitish background and white paper for the layout.

Maybe it's easier to dim monitor or wear sunglasses?

The only method I know of is to turn off display of the background. Your background will then match the color of your sheet. Options...Display Tab...Layout elements, then uncheck "Display paper background".

This is obviously a new feature to 2011 and you're just taking it the wrong way. I am struggling with this as well of it makes you feel any better.

I apologize if you took my reply as being condescending as I meant no disrespect. From lassis attachment I can clearly see how the paper shadow blends in with the new lighter background color. I never did like the way the ps layout looks with the shadow on so in the options I turn off the paper shadow. This way there are only two colors, the paper and the background. I would recommend you doing the same and see it helps.

The only other option is turning off the paper background as previously suggested, unless of course you have the ability to hack the program and modify the code to change the color.

Happy Civil 3D'ing 🙂

LOL, I was being the smartas s ACADuser. No harm! I hate this "new thing" with 2011 as well. This is one the first things that I attempted to change upon installation.

I bet it's the same guy that came up with the default bright blue model space color in 2008 (i think) 🙂
Didn't they fire him?

It's actually quite entertaining because our survey department always seems to screw up their cad profiles and you see them working with the bright blue background all the time.
