Best way to create proposed ground model from pdf

I have a road scheme that has been supplied as a pdf (little chance of getting dwg info) see screendump as well as a pdf of the proposed profile with chainages and levels and I need to produce a model to allow me to calculate cut and fill etc.

I displyed the pdf to correct scale and location and I initially created polylines by snapping to the pdf to define the alignments and then created the alignments from these objects but I am unsure how to assign the levels to the alignments.

Anyone have any ideas of an efficient workflow to create a proposed model??

Thanks

What levels? All I see is an alignment plan. Are you looking to get earthwork or are you trying to recreate a corridor? If I was given this task I would digitize the topo and grading plan (that I don't see in you screenshot) make the two surfaces and to a hand adjustment for the typical section. If you have been asked to recreate the entire corridor and you accomplish that you should ask for a substantial raise. Smiley Wink But to paraphrase Pink Floyd ..."at no surprise they're not give that away.....awayy...Smiley Very Happy

The levels are shown on another plan (not included) as a longitudinal profile section.

I created alignments and input the centreline chainages/levels/descriptions to a text file to load in C3D points along the alignment. From these I created featurelines along the centreline and used stepped offsets to define the "road corridor" and built a surface from that.

In the UK, some consultants are very reluctant to supply any form of CAD drawing (sometimes get 2D data, rarely get 3D data) hence the need to recreate the proposed model
