Best way to apply solid hatch

I have a series of conceptual 2D alignments (see screenshot for typical scenario) and I want to apply a hatch to the alignments to illustrate the road footprint for a planning application.

I have tried the ribbon but get lots of messages about non closed areas being found and so no hatching is possible. What is the best way to apply hatches to alignment line work such as this??

Can the corridor tools be used in some way (even though I have no profiles at this stage)??

Thanks

When the software doesn't create the boundary desired, I created the boundary using a pline and then close it when I am at the end.  You could also try using the points option but I prefer creating the boundary myself in case I make a mistake while picking points.

I've offset the alignments and then offset back to get simple plines and then closed off the tail ends and used LINEWORKSHRINKWRAP or BPOLY to create a closed area which works but isn't very dynamic......

A quick corridor would work. Just create a profile at 0 elevation in order to generate the corridor.

Yes - I was thinking of a simple corridor from generic links.....

Presume I need a surface at elevation 0 to allow me to create a profile??

You can create a profile view without a surface which will then enable you to create a profile at El. 0 by layout. Just assign station and elevation ranges when creating the view or it will be "invisible" because it doesn't contain any data. But you might make a surface profile at El. 0 and use it in the creation of your corridor. If it will let you do that, you wouldn't even need to make the profile view. I'd be interested to know if that works.

I drew a rectangle that covered the site and added to a new surface as breakline and then did the profile as normal and that worked well
