Good morning all,
Have recently upgraded to C3D 2012. This has happened for the last three weeks, but not everytime.
I'm working along and the Autosave kicks in. I have it set to 10 minutes.
I notice it because it does weird things, the ribbon goes all wonky for a second, the Drawing Corrd. in the bottom get all whacked out, and some of the icon tools blink. All like it's trying to regenerate the screen or something. The command line sort of scrolls and then clears up. When I hit F2 it all looks normal.
BUT then the crosshairs have disappeared, and I can't click on anything.(the cursor shows up if you move off the Autocad work space and go to a windows op. I can type commands into the command line, but it all comes back "Unknown command".
The command help thing even pops up (the thing you use to have to hit the Tab key for)
Heres a cut and paste from the Text window:
Command:
Command:
Command: _copybase Specify base point: 2 found
Command: Automatic save to C:\Users\clittle\documents\projects\autocad autosave\ST1205 - 08 - Traffic Control - TCP-01_06 - 2-10-12_1_1_2527.sv$ ...

Anyone have any ideas? I REALLY don't want to loose what I have done. or for it to keep happening.
Thanks, Chris
OK update:
I opened the autosave dwg file and it seemed to work, cross hairs came back and the program worked as expected. I could switch between the autosave dwg and the open file that didn't work. But then a Windows message poped up
and then it crashed all the way out.
Hopefully you've opened the program again and it brought up the recovery center and gave you a chance to open or recover your drawing.
Has this only happened on one drawing? Does it happen if another user is logged on?

Hey Allen,
Yes it opened and I was able to start from that last autosave. Autosave worked and saved the file.
I'm the only user on this machine, and we have stand alone copies.
No one else has had this problem and it only happens every once in a while, but it does happen in differnt drawings.
It's occured 3 or 4 times since I got it a few weeks ago.
Another person has had the crosshairs go away, but they could still type qsave and close the program and open it and they came back.
I've seen the crosshairs go away, but all I had to do was switch to a different drawing in the tool space and then back again and it was fine. I've also had it switch to a different drawing I had open all by itself. If i keep only one drawing open at a time I do not see any problems like this.
This sounds like there is either a 3rd party conflict, or your original installation is corrupted. Please try diagnostic mode and see if that helps: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=6453117&linkID=9240617
Do you have Update 1 installed? I would try that as well:

Thank guys for replying.
Seth I do have SP1 installed.
I'll try diagnostic mode and see what I come up with. Right now it's been running ok. I do sometimes still see the command line start to scroll when it autosaves or if I open the layer manager window or sometimes the xref window, But not all the time. When it starts acting up today I run this suggestion.
Thanks,
Chris
I noticed that you did not try the "saveas" command. This usually works.
Bill
Hey Bill,
Yes, I didn't. After it came back with "unknown" on the first one I knew how it was going to end up. Saveas didn't work either in the past. Actually nothing that was typed in would work. I couldn't pick anything either cause the crosshair were gone.
If I did wait long enough for the autosave to run again it would run and show up in the command line, but that's all.
I figure since it's just a script it was running and showed up.
OK, it's at it again. I was in my other office assy. a plan set and came back to it.
The last thing I did was print.
Here's a cut and paste from the history window.
