Autodesk units converter

Autodesk used to have a nice units converter on their site. Length, volumes, weight, liquid etc. etc. I had a shortcut on my desktop to access it. I went to use it a few minutes ago but the link no longer works. I tried a search on the site but came up with nothing.

This is the link that used to get me to it.

Good but no cigar. Needed to convert from cubic yds to gallons in this case. Not an option with QC

Try the internet archive at http://web.archive.org

The link below will take you to and archived version of the units converter

I use Google to convert now. I ran into the same problem with AutoDesk's online converter.

Google Unit Converter use this link, or just google search unit converter. More Info
Cubic Yard to Gallons is not an option, but if you search "(#) cubic yds to gallons unit converter" it gives you the gallons.

Our IT has set up strict Amin. only installation rights on our computers, so a stand alone program as suggested would not work for me.

You can use the Command Line Converter.  Look at the acad.unt file in \Program Files\Autodesk\Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014\UserDataCache\en-us\Support. You can convert between any compatible units in this file.

Command: 'CAL
>> Expression: cvunit (1, ft, m)
0.3048

Command: 'CAL

>> Expression: cvunit (12, cu_yard, gallon)
2423.6883

Thanks for the info, but your link just takes me to the AutoCAD Civil 3D User's Guide 2014, and not a specific command description. I am using AutoCAD 2013 Standard edition. So I am not sure if that commend works in all versions. It does in mine. The 'Cal command does work, but it does not give you a graphical interface, nor text prompts as to what commands work next, like most commands do in AutoCAD. Finally, the main point of the online converter for me was that it worked without having to have AutoCAD open. That is nice for when I am converting a spread sheet, or several dim. at once on a pdf or report because it could easliy shrink the window to share the screen space with other applications. Not always an easy feat when working in AutoCAD with many toolbars. That being said, I think I will stick to Google for this specific task for now.

Thanks,

  James

I guess I'm the only one that likes the windows one.  It will do that conversion in both US and UK Gallons.

Google is fine. I currently use the Excaliber32 RPN Calculator. But it doesn't do the conversion you want. It could be programed to do it.
