Autocad Fields. Replacing D with Degree Symbol or possible custom fields?

Really would like to start making use of the Fields autocad provides.  However when labeling say an Angle of a line in Surveyor Units, I do not want the D to be displayed and show a degree symbol or %%d itself.  The spacing between the N ##%%d is unnecessary too.  Is there away to either modify the way the field works?  Through .Net is an option im comfortable with.  Or even create your own custom fields?

Thanks for any tips in advance.

You can get help coding for C3D here. http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-civil-3d-customization/bd-p/190 Civil 3D Line labels will format the angle as you want it to be and will provide a faster workflow than fields.

Are you using Civil 3D or plain AutoCAD? If you have Civil 3D, there is no need to use Fields, just use the built-in labeling. If you don't use Civil 3D, then this is probably not the best discussion group in which to post your question.

I have to assume yo are using an "object" field. there is a format button in the dialog that offers several different ways. I dont have cad now, but I'm sure its there. Also there is always %%d

Doesn't look like it can be done directly with fields, but if you had the fortitude to do it in a formula field you would have to start withh decimal parse each piece and format
