AutoCAD Civil 3D and Cleanup Utilities

Hello All,

I have come across an issue whereby selecting subassemblies from toolpalettes in C3D 2012 either will not work (nothing happens when you click on them, the cursor does not change and there are no messages on the command line) or the program crashes. The only items from the tool palettes that will work are the turning heads. This is because they are blocks and not subassemblies i imagine.

The root of the problem appears to be a free 3rd party PC clean-up utility called Glary Utilities. After a fresh installation subassemblies work fine. When Glary Utilities is ran with default settings it results in the above issue. It appears that the clean-up removes a dll file associated with subassemblies.

The problem can be solved by clean uninstall and reinstall of C3D. I have tested with similar clean-up utility (CCleaner) and this appears not to cause any issues.

Has anybody had any similar experiences with clean-up utilities?
