We are running an AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 network license, Windows 7, 64bit. The AutoCAD splash screen starts up and then closes. The settings for FLEXnet in services.msc are set to Started (Status), Automatic (Startup Type) and Log On As (Local System). I also tried Manual (Startup Type) with no luck. There is no ADLM folder in C:\Program Data\Autodesk. There were no changes made to the system. It just stopped working. We have 2012 and 2014 software running off the same license file and they work fine (replaced license file in case it was corrupt, same thing).
Since the other versions are running OK and you do not get a NLM error code, it does not seem like it's license related. Even if the LM was not present, the application should startup past the point you mention and either prompt you to choose an LM or at least return a license error.
You might start by exploring some of these startup switches, such as /nohardware and /w to see if either or both will allow it to startup.
Well, it could be a lot of things. You might want to check the Windows Event Logs to look for any red icons related to acad.exe.
If it happened over night, it most likely was some Windows update that installed in the past 24 hours.
Go to Windows' restore point manager and roll back to the last restore you have. That usually fixes things.

Mike
They follow the acad.exe path in the properties of the desktop shortcut.
