RECOVERing the drawing
or
INSERTing into a new drawing
or
if you can open the drawing for long enough before it crashes, WBLOCK the whole drawing

I hadn't picked up on the Windows 8 OS - that is likely to be the problem which is covered at length in other threads.
Go back to Windows 7 which is supported and see if the same problems occur
