Alignment Missing From File

Really hope you guys can help me out... Civil 3d 2011 user here...

I have created a file with 3 alignments in it, and linked the file using data shortcut to another file where the profile is created. Horizontal alignment 1 and 2 is considered done, but alignment no 3 still needs some fixing. So I was doing some work for alignment no 3, and i made sure everything is in order when I closed the file.

The next time I try opening the file, suddenly alignment no 3 is gone. I checked the prospector tab, and alignment no 3 is still there. I selected the missing alignment from the prospector and viewed the alignment properties, but all geometric properties were mising.

I thought it might have something to do with project folder getting corrupted, so I created new folder, new data shortcut, etc. Today, I lumped alignment 1 & 2 in a new file, and put alignment no 3 in another file, but the same thing happen. No problem with alignment 1 & 2, while alignment 3 kept missing its geometric properties after the file is closed. Fyi, alignment no 3 is created from scratch, i.e. i did not import it from the old file beacause i feared anything wrong with the old file might be brought along into my new file & folder. The file for alignment 3 has also not been associated with the project, although it is placed in the same working folder.

Anyone else experienced this? Did I do anything wrong with the data shortcut? I thought of uninstallin/reinstall civil 3d on this machine, but have no idea if that will help...

A first step would be to try and wblock it out into a new drawing...?

Could you try right-clicking on the missing alignment in Prospector tab (it is still visible there, right?) and use Export to LandXML? Export it to your desktop and use LANDXMLIN command to import it back into the draiwng. If that doesn't help then I would do what Eric suggested. Just my 2 pennies.

thank you for all suggestion. will try it later today.

what i did try though was to export alignment no 3 from an old file to xml, and then importing it into another file. the problem is that when editing, e.g. introducing free spiral-curve-spiral between two tangent, the first few tries is usually fine, but after a few times of doing the same thing, this message would appear :

Cannot create a free entity, no alignment sub-entities currently exist

at this point, all geometric properties is still visible. it's only after i closed/reopened the file that the properties went missing.... i really have no idea what i did wrong...
