Alignment entities not showing up in alignment grid view

I'm trying to edit some existing alignments. When I create new entities, they do not show up in the alignment grid view. Why is this?

Are you creating them running from low station to high? If you create objects in the wrong direction they don't show up in the grid view.

I am not sure. How can I tell, and how can I control this?

How can I change the station at which they were created?

You don't change the station, you need to reverse the direction. If you draw 2 lines, one starting at (0,0) and ending at (0,10), and the other starting at (0,20) and ending at (0,10), you can make an alignment from one then add the other but only the first one will get stationed and show in the panorama because they are going in different directions. Use the ReverseDirection tool to switch the direction of the one not displaying and it will magically start working as desired.
