Adding user text to a table

I use line/ curve tables for layout of curb and gutter.  I added my tags and then generated my table.  I then edited the table style to add an extra column for text so that I can I.D. the tags as catch or spill.  That’s where I get stuck.  I pull up the Text Component Editor – Column Contents box, however it will not let me change the properties tap to a user input.  Is there some code that I could add as contents to allow me to do so?  I would like to be able to edit the text in the cell like a standard table.
