3d polylines to 2d polylines

Is there a way to convert multiple 3d polylines to 2d polylines? I know how to convert them one at a time through feature lines but not all at once. I am looking for a command similar to 3dpolylines/Convert to 2d polylines in LDD.

Thanks

Casey

Hello,

I could be totally off base here, but can't you just explode them. I know that that is a bad word in Civil 3D but...

Let me know,

If you explode a 3d polyline it turns into a bunch of lines with elevation. I am trying to mimic the LDD command to convert a number of 3d polys to 2d.

Thanks for the reply

Hello Casey,

From the "Grading" menu pulldown select "Polyline Utilities" > "Convert 3D
to 2D Polylines".

The new 2D polylines will have the elevation of the start elevation of the
3D polyline.

By the way, Connie B suggested that we run an AUDIT after using the these
Polyline conversion Utilities. JIC.

Good tip!

Hi

If you have the Express tools installed, select your 3d Polylines and go Experss Tools - modify -Flatten objects, this sets all elevations to zero, but leaves the polylines as 3d polylines though. It depends on what you are trying to achieve.

Oh, come to think of it, Map cleanup utility will also convert 3D poly's
into 2D.

Angel is there a method to have them acquire an elevation of Zero, along the
lines of LDT's tool?

Of course if I had kept reading, I might have found the answer to my query

In LDT I redefined the Plot command Angel - with some help of course:

snip from MNL file>
(princ "Redefining PLOT command with User extensions.")
(command "undefine" "plot")
(defun c:plot ()
(command "qsave")
(command "regen")
(command "AUDIT" "Y")
(command "LTSCALE" "1")
(command "qsave")
(command "spell" "all" "")
(initdia)
(command "_.plot")
(princ)
)

end of snip>

So would some along those lines be possible nowadays with the CUI, in
regards to including a Audit after the conversion has processed?

Yes I know it's Lisp. 😉

Doesn't LDT's 'convert to 2D polyline' put the newly created 2D polylines to
zero elevation automatically?

Hi Connie,

From memory, it asks you to assign a level, but defaults to 0.
