3D Model Exported from Catia to C3D

Good Day,

I need to export a 3d model from Catia to be used in C3D.  I have saved the Catia model as a .stp file.  I then opened this file in Inventor and created a .sat file from it.  I then imported the .sat file into C3D.  The model appears in C3D as a mesh.  When I check the properties of it, it is listed as a surface but it isn't a C3D surface or anything that I am able to use for quantities etc.  Very confusing!!

I need to create a tin surface from this to be used for quantity checks.  Can anyone offer any advice on this issue?  I am not very familiar with Catia or Inventor but am very experienced with C3D.

I am using Autodesk Civil 3D 2011.

Thanks in advance!

Craig

What about solidifying your waterproof mesh, and apply the _MASSPROP command..?

Check this out, sir.

Change the Visual Style from 2D Wireframe to Shaded or Realistic.

Thanks for the repsonses!

I got it to work by exploding the mesh twice which then left splines.  Did a multiple PEDIT on these to convert them to 3D POLYLINES and then built my surface based on that.

Regards,
