2016 SP2 and Feature Lines

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am seeing some unexpected behaviour with Feature lines using SP2 for C3D 2016.

A new "Feature" seems to be allowing the feature lines to be "siteless" this is also the default.  Not mentioned in the readme.

I am also getting lots of errors when auditing drawings with feature lines.  Could be the drawing, but it is deleting elevation points.  Maybe this is overly aggressive from the readme:

  • An issue has been resolved where extra vertices were created on some feature lines which impacted the ability to create grading projections from those feature lines. To resolve this issue, run the AUDIT command in any affected drawings after installing the service pack.

These are elevation points that I have created and need.  Please don't delete them!!

Open a support ticket with Autodesk please.

Posting in the forums is good for alerting peers, but issues like this need to get into the system so they can get a fix going. Thanks.

Conan just called me and I tested it.  What happened to mine is the elevation points I manually put in became a grayed out triangle (instead of the circle). So I am going to log this with Autodesk right now.

I wanted to make sure it wasn't a drawing specific issue.  I verified with Todd and he will log it for me.  Thats why I still love my reseller!!!

I've been wishing for siteless featurelines. I hope this is an enhancement and not a bug.

This was actually tested on a site.

Is this a wishlist item that has now created a new bug?

Like I was saying in my post, I did it on a site.  I don't think it has to do with the new NONE site feature, but then again, it might.  I created mine on a site and it messed it up as soon as I audited.

@Neilw_05, the Readme for SP2 has been updated to include this information.

A change in behavior has been introduced which enables you to create feature lines without specifying a site for them. To create feature lines outside of a site, select the <None> option from the site selection list when you are creating feature lines. Selecting the <None> option adds the feature lines to their own top-level collection on the Prospector tab in Toolspace, underneath the drawing name.

Feature lines that are created outside of a site do not interact with each other, so you do not need to specify the style priority for them like you do with feature lines that exist in the same site. They also do not interact with other objects that they cross, such as alignments, parcels, or survey figures.

There are some restrictions on using these feature lines in previous versions of the software:

  • These feature lines cannot be moved or copied to a site.
  • In a drawing that contains such feature lines, you must create a new site for any new feature lines that you want to add to a site.

Sean,

Why does this not show up under Product Updates on our Account? It doesn't show up on Application Manager either.

Productivity Pack 2 is also missing from the Product Enhancements section; although it popped up in Application Manager yesterday even though it was released on 18th Jan

I don't see anything this morning for a Productivity Pack 2. Do people have this installed?
