2010 Cross Hair trails

Anyone else seen this?

My C3D 2010 started leaving crosshair trails over the screen, as in the attached image. As I move the cursor around, it leaves more and more garbage on the screen.

A pan or redraw clears all the garbage, but the process starts all over again - as I move the cursor, more garabage gets left on-screen. This continues until I click in the drawing. Then all the garbage clears up, and C3D 2010 behaves normally until I pan the display again. Then it's back to leaving trails. It's really strange - pan the screen, click a point in the drawing, and everything is fine. Pan the screen, then try moving the cursor around without clicking in the drawing, and all these trails get left all over the place.

Shutting down and restarting C3D made the problem go away, but not sure what got it started in the first place. I've never seen anything like this in earlier versions of C3D.

No such "animal" has appeared on my screen as yet
on 2010.  Occasionally I get some garbage but it is quickly dissipated with
a regen.

If you have your crosshair sized to 100% try
setting it at 98-99%.

I've had it happen before on way earlier versions.
I attributed it back then to my 'el-cheapo' video card. Maybe try reverting your
video driver backward? Only time I see that now is when things start to lock up
(CAD or not CAD-related).

It looks like you are working on a large drawing file. Do your CH's do this in smaller drawings as well?

I haven't seen that with C3D, but I had it happen with Bentley's WaterCAD. Here's the solution they gave me which worked.----------------------

Sometimes you may see leftover "ghost" trails remaining in the drawing pane when zooming, drawing a box around elements or connecting a pipe. This is a common issue with certain video cards / graphics hardware.

If you are using Windows XP or Windows 2000, try the following:
- Turn down video acceleration by going to start > control panel > display > settings > advanced > troubleshooting
- Switch the buffering and veritical synchronization settings in your video card`s advanced options
- Update your video card drivers from the manufacturer`s website

If you are using Windows Vista, please try editing your video card`s setting and enable Anti-aliasing (e.g. 2x, 4x, etc as
opposed to None or Application Controlled).

I haven't seen this issue since that one time. It happened while I was trying to import very large DGN files that were nearly bringing C3D to its knees. Don't know if that had anything to do with it or not, since I only saw the problem that one time.

Shutting down and restarting C3D cleared it up. And since I haven't seen it again, I haven't worried about it.

I've been having this issue intermittently with 2013 C3D while working in a view port in paperspace.  When I'm inside the viewport (in model space), ghost trails from the crosshairs accumulate.  Curiously, the problem doesn't occur in paperspace.

I performed a power cycle and still had the same issue.  Running RECOVER fixed 2 errors, however the problem continued. After 5 minutes or so, the problem just went away.

It's happened several times before and each time the problem has righted itself for reasons I'm unaware of.

For now, my best advice is to try to ignore the issue for 5 minutes and keep your fingers crossed.
