2008 Points Crashing

I just upgraded to C3D 2008 (very refreshing after putting up with 2007) and the only problem I've had with it so far is that every time I click on the circular grip to move the label without a leader, the program has a fatal error. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

Hi Kevin,

It appears to be working fine for me. Can you post a drawing? Also what OS
are you working on?

I assume the steps are: click on the circular grip to toggle on subitem
grips and it fatal errors.

I tried posting the drawing, but no matter how small I make it, it won't upload. I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2 on a Core 2 Duo machine with 4GB of RAM. Hopefully someone else with the same problem could reply and post a drawing.
Thanks for all your help!

Kevin,

i can have a drawing uploaded to an FTP site for you to download. how can i get you a link without posting my information in the forum?

thanks, but that's not really necessary. i already have a drawing that's crashing, I just can't upload it so that Matt can take a look at it. Maybe he could use the link?

Chris,

Any chance you (or anyone for that matter) could post a drawing that you can
reproduce this crash in?

Thanks,

I appreciate the flattery but I'm not with Autodesk. I work for a reseller. I was just trying to inform you that if you need to send an e-mail to an Autodesk employee, most likely it's in that format.

Count me in. My drawing crashes when I import a point file and then attempt to lock the points in Allpoints point group. This happens with any drawing made with my template and the default NCS templates.

I had the same problem. What I had to do is go into my point style and change from "Use AutoCAD Point for marker" to a custom marker that was visible. Then I could move them around and my leaders showed up. Don't know why, but it screwed up all my current grading plans. Works fine now, though.

didn't work for me. all of my point styles already use a custom marker. I've actually found that there are quite a few things related to points that will cause a fatal error on every machine in my company. Subscription Support refuses to say that anything is wrong with the software and tries to blame everything on the computer itself. Funny thing is, the same computer had no problems with the same functions on '07. I've pretty much given up and decided to wait on a service pack / hotfix.

i have forwarded a dwg to one of the developers. after reviewing he sent in a defective ticket. so i have confirmation it is screwed up. he said; "I have filed a defect and turned it over to the labels developer." ill send him an email to find out what the status is.
