Corridor Surface working only at pre-determined stations

Hello,

I'm working with an Assembly composed by a 7m lane + 3m cyclopath. Both of them do end with a DayligthGeneral that cuts or fill, depending of the site condition. The problem is: in the section editor, when I visualize the pre-defined sections (20m interval), the DATUM CORRIDOR SURFACE created works fine, using the natural surface as a breakline, but when I select a random station by using the "Specify Station in Plan or Profile View", the CORRIDOR SURFACE seems to fail at getting the correct targets. There are some pics below.

 

Any help?

From your images, it appears that the daylight line does in fact hit the EG surface but then CONTINUES past it.

 

What do you have set as your corridor surface boundary?

DATUM as breakline and the "corridor extents as outer boundary".

 

The daylights have EG Surface as Target.

I'm sorry for the delayed response to this.  I was dealing with a high priority project at work and couldn't devote time to the forums.  By the time I got back to the forums, I had forgotten about your thread.

 

Anyway, after re-reading your thread, I think I have a better idea of your issue.  It sounds like you're talking about only seeing the issue in the Cross Section Editor when you select a station graphically.  If you look at a section that does not have an instance of the assembly (you're between instances of the assembly) then you'll get that issue all the time.

 

Take a look at the following sketch -- it should help illustrate the issue.

 

The magenta lines represent the assembly instances at two stations.  The green lines represent the EG surface at those stations.  The blue triangle is just one triangle that's created as part of the corridor triangulation process.

 

Now you're between two assembly instances (the yellow lines) and your "daylight" line is ending up somewhere in the middle of the triangle so it appears to be wrong.  But if you were to add another assembly at that station, it would be fine.  In short, I wouldn't worry about things like this UNLESS they're at actual assembly instances.

 EDIT:  Here's the same sketch with a few more triangles filled in.  This would be more realistic as to what your corridor surface might look like near the daylight if you were to turn on the triangles.

Here's one last image to help explain this.  This is a screenshot of a corridor (the two previous images were just sketches but this is from an actual corridor).

 

If you were to look at the corridor's FREQUENCY settings, you'd see they are set to some specific locations (regular station intervals, maybe your PC/PT stations etc).  Assembly instances get placed at these locations.

 

Now in my image below, imagine trying to cut a cross section at the YELLOW LINE.  It's ending in an area that will not be in the middle of a triangle.
