Civil 3D 2014 fatal error

Hello everyone

I'm having a problem with my Civil 3D 2014.

When I try to open a window for example options, cui and so on. I get a FATAL error. It doesnt happen all the time, but then it happens when I close the window again.

The FATAL error changes from time to time. Here is the latest:

FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0xffffffff Exception at ec3aa049h

I have tried to reinstall a few times. Last time I didnt get a Error for a couple of days, but now it started again.

Im using a network license

I have no problem with any of my other AutoCAD installations (civil 2013, MAP, AutoCAD, LT)

You are not the only one.  I actually had to format my hard drive to get it to act right.  However, there is a Hotfix 1 that was released last week.

Hi and welcome to the discussion groups.

I did a search on Google for "Exception at ec3aa049h civil 3d" and the only thing that came up (other than this thread) was an old technical solution suggesting to make sure .net was installed correctly.

If you have your software on subscription, I would recommend submitting a support request directly with Autodesk.

Sounds like a .NET issue to me.  I would try the secondary installer to have it rebuild your Windows profile.  Follow the directions here.

The link with the fix

Quote: You have a situation where a single user is experiencing an issue with a particular command or setting.  When another user logs onto the same machine, they do not experience the same issue.

Maybe I misunderstood it?

I see what you're saying now.  Basically what it's saying is that if a different user were to log onto your machine, and they do not experience the issues, then the secondary installer (resetting user settings) should fix you up.  What happens when another user logs into your machine, it builds a Windows profile for Civil 3D.  These tend to get corrupt from time to time and this is the fix.

Its working so far

Do you think it would work on Civil 3D 2014?

Well I tried the fix on 2014:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=21789329&linkID=9240697

It works. Thank you very much.

I can't believe it.

The problem has started again on both Civil 3D 2013 and 2014

Go to control panel like you are going to uninstall a program. Then list what Microsoft .NET framework versions you have installed.

4.5 is now installed.

Sorry, but that didn't work

Is this happening in 1 specific drawing, or multiple drawings??  After installing 4.5, I would run a repair install.
