XDRefs and Point Groups in Civil 3D 2014

I am able to connect my msaccess database and create xdrefs to label points but can not use xdrefs in the filter criteria like I was able to in LDD. There is no way to do this using the Query Builder either. I am not looking to use UDPs. Can a point group be created using XDrefs to filter (since they are in the drawing and recognized) with LISP or VBA or some other way?

The LISP and VBA APIs uses ActiveX, and there is not much there on this, and northing on XDRef

Now on 2014, there is a new .NET API for Points, and the PointGroup.ElevationOverride property contains information about this, take a look at http://docs.autodesk.com/CIV3D/2014/ENU/API_Reference_Guide/html/f87c1d41-3761-a6b9-68b4-ca66a7cee5e...
