SAVEAS using Windows Explorer

When I use the SAVEAS command in Civil 3D Landdesktop 2008, I have to type the entire file directory on the command line. My AutoCAD won't open a Windows Explorer box so I can browse to my SAVEAS destination. My old Landdesktop 3 version used to always give me a browser when I wanted to save a file somewhere else. Another guy in my office installed the exact same software but he doesn't have any problem. He gets the browser window when he hits SAVEAS. Neither of us know why our Autocads are different or how to change the setting so that the explorer browser opens with SAVEAS instead of making me type in the file directory on the command line. Any suggestions?

2 strikes 🙂

First strike, this group is for Civil3d, not the Landdesktop companion.
Second strike, it's the customization group to boot.

But now to answer your question and point you to the correct group for these
questions.

Answer: FILEDIA sysvar, set it to 1
In the future, post LDT questions to the landesktop group. Better yet,
search that group first to see if you can answer it yourself. I know you
could have this time, because this question comes up 1 or 2 times....a week.
:-)

Hi Jeff,

Funnily enough I just answered the same question in the Land Desktop
customisation NG.

Sorry about using the wrong discussion group. This is the first time I ever had to obtain product support from this sort of forum.

Hi Elgin,

You have not received "product support" You get that from your dealer or
from Autodesk.

Instead you have received help from ordinary users who read these newsgroups
and try to help one another.

For future reference you should:

Search the AutoCAD help files. 99% of anwers are found there.
Search the newsgroups (Google Groups searches are very good for this
purpose)
Search the web
Then look at these newsgroups and work out which one is most relevant to
your query.
Post to the ONE newsgroup only.

OK, Thanks. By the way, the FILEDIA command worked like a charm.
