Properties Panel Customization

Can someone tell me if its possible to have the area portion of the PROPERTIES PANEL display Acres instead of, or in addition to, square feet for a closed object? If so, how to I accomplish this?

Not sure if it's possible to alter that, but this may help make that determination:
