Layer and color to COGO survey points and figures by code and attribute.

Does anyone know of a way to use an attribute of a cogo survey point to give the point a particular color or layer? I'd like to do the same with the survey figure. For example if I import a fbk file with edge of road points on a line:

NEZ "5221" 4542.1000 9342.6705 576.5376 "ER Dirt"

NEZ "5222" 4510.8666 9361.9049 580.4795 "ER Dirt"

NEZ "5223" 4467.0774 9375.4225 584.1279 "ER Dirt"

NEZ "5224" 4428.2563 9383.1500 587.3813 "ER Dirt"

NEZ "5225" 4384.5356 9390.8400 591.4723 "ER Dirt"

BEG ER

PT "5221"

PT "5222"

PT"5223"

PT"5224"

PT"5225"

END

I would like the COGO point to be put on an appropriate layer to give it a color based on the "Gravel" attribute. Or if a separate layer isn't possible can you at least change the color depending on road material?

I'd like the figure line to do the same.If the attribute was gravel or asphalt they should be put on the appropriate layer and given a the appropriate color. Lets say for example edge of concrete road is Blue, Asphalt is White and Gravel is Red.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

You can do this by setting up a survey database and importing your data through it.  You will have to setup the "figure prefix database" and the "description key sets". Once you set these up any point matching the description key will be put on the layer specified in the key sets and the survey figure will be place on a layer as specified in the figure prefix database.

NOTE: It is very important to remember to set the coordinate zone of the survey database to the same coordinate zone that your drawing is to prevent coordinate transformations.

I have attached examples of our keys and figure prefix setup.
